Welcome to Gholston Holding LLC
We are committed to providing a safe, structured, respectful, and supportive transitional housing environment for individuals working toward successful reentry and greater independence. Our program is designed to support residents as they transition from incarceration, homelessness, treatment, or other challenging circumstances into stable community living.
Purpose of This Handbook
This Resident Handbook explains the policies, expectations, procedures, and responsibilities of residents participating in the Gholston Holding LLC Transitional Housing Program. It is intended to help residents understand the program, maintain a safe and respectful living environment, and successfully work toward their individual reentry and independent-living goals. Residents are expected to read, understand, and follow the policies contained in this handbook.
Program Goals
The goals of the Gholston Holding LLC Transitional Housing Program are to provide residents with a safe, stable, and structured living environment while supporting their successful transition into the community. Our program seeks to:
- Support successful reentry into the community.
- Promote stable and independent living.
- Help residents maintain or obtain employment.
- Encourage participation in treatment, counseling, education, and job training when appropriate.
- Support compliance with parole, probation, treatment, and other supervision requirements.
- Connect residents with community resources and supportive services.
- Promote personal responsibility, accountability, and positive decision-making.
- Help reduce homelessness and the likelihood of returning to incarceration.
Resident Responsibilities
Residents are expected to take an active role in maintaining a safe, respectful, and supportive living environment. Each resident is responsible for:
- Following all house rules and program requirements.
- Treating residents, staff, visitors, and neighbors with respect.
- Keeping bedrooms and shared areas clean and sanitary.
- Following all parole, probation, treatment, and supervision requirements.
- Attending required appointments, treatment, counseling, employment, education, or job-training programs.
- Following established curfew and check-in requirements.
- Paying required program fees according to the agreed payment schedule.
- Reporting safety concerns, property damage, emergencies, or serious rule violations to staff.
- Respecting the personal property and privacy of other residents.
- Working toward personal reentry, employment, housing, recovery, and independent-living goals.
Length of Stay
The typical length of stay in the Gholston Holding LLC Transitional Housing Program is approximately six months to one year. The actual length of stay may vary based on each resident’s individual needs, progress, program participation, supervision requirements, and availability of appropriate permanent or independent housing. Residents are expected to work toward their transition goals throughout their stay. Extensions or changes to the length of stay may be considered on an individual basis.
Intake & Move-In
Before moving into the Gholston Holding LLC Transitional Housing Program, each resident must complete the required intake process. During intake, residents will receive information about their assigned housing location, program expectations, house rules, program fees, and move-in procedures. Residents may also be required to provide identification, parole or probation information, treatment information, emergency contact information, and other documents necessary for program participation.
At move-in, residents will be shown their assigned sleeping area and common areas and will receive any site-specific rules or instructions. Residents are responsible for understanding and following all information provided during the intake and move-in process.
Check-In & Check-Out Procedures
Residents must follow all check-in and check-out procedures established for their assigned Gholston Holding LLC housing location. Specific procedures, including sign-in/sign-out requirements, approved departure and return times, overnight absences, and notification requirements, will be explained during intake.
Residents must comply with all curfews and movement restrictions established by their parole officer, probation officer, treatment provider, supervising agency, or Gholston Holding LLC. Residents are responsible for notifying appropriate staff of approved schedule changes, emergencies, or delays that may affect their required return time.
Personal Property
Residents are responsible for the care, security, and protection of their personal belongings. Gholston Holding LLC is not responsible for personal property that is lost, stolen, misplaced, or damaged. Residents should keep valuables and important documents secured at all times.
The amount and type of personal property permitted may vary by housing location. Residents will receive site-specific instructions during intake regarding storage space and items that may or may not be brought onto the property. Weapons, illegal drugs, stolen property, drug paraphernalia, and other prohibited or illegal items are not permitted on Gholston Holding LLC property.
Phone & Internet Use
Residents may use personal phones, computers, tablets, and internet services in accordance with Gholston Holding LLC rules and any requirements established by their parole officer, probation officer, treatment provider, or supervising agency. Residents are responsible for following any restrictions placed on their use of phones, social media, internet access, or electronic devices.
The use of phones or electronic devices must not disturb other residents, interfere with required programming, treatment, employment, meetings, or quiet hours. Residents may not use electronic devices for illegal activity, harassment, threats, or any activity that violates program rules or the rights and privacy of others.
Smoking & Tobacco Use
Smoking is strictly prohibited inside all Gholston Holding LLC properties. Residents may smoke only in designated outdoor smoking areas, if provided. This includes cigarettes, cigars, pipes, and other tobacco products. Smoking inside any building or unauthorized area is considered a serious violation and may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination from the program, subject to applicable law and program requirements.
Residents must properly dispose of cigarette butts and other smoking materials and must not create a fire or safety hazard.
Alcohol, Drugs & Substance Use
The possession, use, sale, distribution, or manufacture of illegal drugs or unauthorized controlled substances is strictly prohibited on Gholston Holding LLC property. Alcohol is not permitted on the property unless specifically authorized by program policy and consistent with the resident’s parole, probation, treatment, or supervision requirements. Drug paraphernalia is also prohibited.
Residents must not return to the property under the influence of illegal drugs or alcohol in a manner that creates a safety risk or violates their program or supervision requirements. Residents must comply with any drug or alcohol testing requirements established by their parole officer, probation officer, treatment provider, supervising agency, or Gholston Holding LLC. Violations may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination from the program, subject to applicable law and program requirements.
Medication
Residents are responsible for taking and properly storing their own prescribed medications. Prescription medications must be used only by the person for whom they were prescribed. Sharing, selling, giving away, or misusing prescription medication is strictly prohibited.
Residents must comply with any medication requirements established by their doctor, treatment provider, parole officer, probation officer, or supervising agency. Medications must be stored safely and securely and must not be left where other residents can access them. Gholston Holding LLC does not prescribe, dispense, or administer medications unless specifically authorized and legally permitted to do so.
Visitors & Guests
Visitors and guests are permitted only in accordance with Gholston Holding LLC program rules and must receive approval when required. Residents are responsible for the behavior and conduct of their visitors while on the property.
Visitors and guests are not permitted in resident bedrooms or sleeping areas at any time. Overnight guests are not permitted. Visitors must remain in approved common or designated visiting areas and must comply with all house rules while on the property. Residents may be held responsible for violations or property damage caused by their visitors or guests.
Cleanliness & Property Care
Residents are responsible for keeping their bedrooms, shared living areas, bathrooms, kitchens, and other common areas clean, sanitary, and free from excessive clutter. Residents must properly dispose of trash and participate in assigned household cleaning duties.
Residents must take reasonable care of the property, furniture, appliances, and equipment provided by Gholston Holding LLC. Property damage, maintenance problems, or unsafe conditions must be reported to staff as soon as possible. Residents may be held responsible for damage caused by themselves or their guests, subject to applicable law and program policies.
Quiet Hours & Noise
Residents must maintain reasonable noise levels and respect the peace, privacy, and comfort of other residents and neighbors. Loud music, excessive television volume, yelling, or other disruptive noise is not permitted.
Quiet hours and any additional noise restrictions will be established by Gholston Holding LLC for each housing location. During quiet hours, residents must keep televisions, phones, music, conversations, and other activities at a reasonable volume so they do not disturb others. Residents and their guests are expected to comply with all quiet-hour requirements.
Employment, Treatment & Program Participation
Residents are expected to actively participate in activities that support their successful transition to independent living. Depending on the resident’s individual plan, this may include employment, job searching, education, vocational training, treatment, counseling, recovery programs, or other approved services.
Residents must attend all appointments, meetings, treatment sessions, classes, work assignments, and other activities required by their parole officer, probation officer, treatment provider, supervising agency, or Gholston Holding LLC. Residents are responsible for communicating schedule changes or problems that may affect their participation.
Gholston Holding LLC encourages residents to work toward stable employment, financial responsibility, recovery, permanent housing, and other goals identified in their individual success plan.
Program Fees & Payments
Residents are responsible for paying all required program fees according to the payment agreement established at admission. Program fees help cover housing, utilities, program operations, and other services associated with participation in the Gholston Holding LLC Transitional Housing Program.
Program fees are based on the resident’s housing arrangement. Fees may vary depending on whether the resident occupies a private room or shared room. The exact program fee, payment due dates, and accepted payment methods will be explained and agreed upon before move-in.
Residents experiencing difficulty making a required payment should contact Gholston Holding LLC as soon as possible to discuss the situation. Failure to pay required program fees according to the agreed payment schedule may result in corrective action or termination from the program, subject to the resident agreement and applicable law.
Safety & Emergency Procedures
Residents must follow all safety and emergency procedures established by Gholston Holding LLC. Residents should become familiar with emergency exits, fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, and other safety equipment at their assigned housing location. Emergency exits and hallways must remain clear at all times.
In the event of a fire, medical emergency, serious injury, violence, or other immediate threat to life or safety, residents should call 911 and notify Gholston Holding LLC staff as soon as it is safe to do so. Residents must follow instructions from emergency personnel and program staff.
Residents must immediately report unsafe conditions, damaged safety equipment, fire hazards, suspicious activity, threats, or other serious safety concerns to staff. Tampering with smoke detectors, fire extinguishers, alarms, security equipment, or other safety devices is strictly prohibited.
Grievance & Complaint Procedure
Residents have the right to raise concerns or complaints regarding the Gholston Holding LLC Transitional Housing Program without fear of retaliation. Residents are encouraged to first discuss concerns with appropriate program staff when possible so that issues may be addressed promptly and fairly.
If a concern cannot be resolved informally, the resident may submit a written grievance or complaint to Gholston Holding LLC. The complaint should describe the issue, the date of the incident, the people involved, and the resolution being requested. Staff will review the complaint and respond within a reasonable period of time.
Residents will not be punished or retaliated against for making a good-faith complaint or grievance. Residents must continue to follow house rules, program requirements, and applicable parole, probation, treatment, or supervision requirements while a grievance is being reviewed.
Move-Out & Transition Plan
Residents are expected to work with Gholston Holding LLC staff throughout their stay to prepare for a successful transition from the program. Transition planning may include obtaining permanent or independent housing, maintaining employment or income, continuing treatment or recovery services, and connecting with community resources.
Before leaving the program, residents should provide appropriate notice when possible and complete all required move-out procedures. Residents must remove their personal belongings, return any keys or property belonging to Gholston Holding LLC, leave their assigned sleeping area reasonably clean, and address any outstanding program responsibilities.
When appropriate, Gholston Holding LLC may assist residents with referrals to housing, employment, treatment, recovery services, transportation, benefits, or other community resources that may support continued stability and successful reentry.

I acknowledge that I have received access to the Gholston Holding LLC Resident Handbook. I understand that I am responsible for reading, understanding, and following the policies, rules, procedures, and expectations contained in this handbook.
I understand that failure to follow program rules or requirements may result in corrective or disciplinary action, up to and including termination from the program, subject to applicable law and program requirements.
I understand that I may ask Gholston Holding LLC staff questions if I need clarification regarding any policy, rule, or program requirement.
