Safety & Emergency Preparedness

Gholston Holding LLC is committed to maintaining a safe and secure living environment for all residents. Residents are expected to follow all emergency procedures, safety rules, and instructions provided by staff.

Emergency procedures may vary by property. Residents will receive information regarding emergency exits, evacuation routes, designated meeting areas, fire safety equipment, and other site-specific safety procedures during intake and move-in.

Residents should immediately report unsafe conditions, damaged safety equipment, hazards, or other safety concerns to staff.

Emergency Contact & 911 Procedures

In the event of a life-threatening emergency, fire, serious injury, medical emergency, crime in progress, or immediate danger, residents should call 911 immediately.

After contacting 911, residents should notify Gholston Holding LLC staff as soon as it is safe to do so.

Residents should:

• Remain calm and follow instructions from emergency personnel
• Provide the correct property address and location of the emergency
• Do not place themselves or others in unnecessary danger
• Notify staff of emergencies, injuries, accidents, or serious safety concerns
• Cooperate with police, fire, ambulance, and other emergency personnel
• Follow any evacuation or shelter instructions provided by staff or emergency authorities

Fire & Evacuation Procedures

In the event of a fire, smoke, fire alarm, or other situation requiring evacuation, residents should leave the building immediately using the nearest safe exit.

Residents should:

• Call 911 once they are in a safe location
• Follow posted evacuation routes and staff instructions
• Never ignore a fire alarm
• Never block hallways, doors, windows, or emergency exits
• Do not attempt to retrieve personal belongings during an evacuation
• Do not re-enter the building until emergency personnel or authorized staff state that it is safe
• Report to the designated meeting area so staff can account for residents
• Immediately report damaged or missing smoke detectors, fire extinguishers, or other safety equipment

Residents must not tamper with, disable, cover, remove, or damage smoke detectors, fire alarms, fire extinguishers, or other emergency safety equipment.

Emergency exits and designated meeting locations will be identified for residents at each Gholston Holding LLC property.

Medical Emergencies & Injuries

In the event of a serious illness, injury, overdose, loss of consciousness, difficulty breathing, severe bleeding, or other medical emergency, residents should call 911 immediately.

Residents should:

• Contact 911 for serious or life-threatening medical emergencies
• Follow instructions provided by emergency dispatchers and medical personnel
• Notify Gholston Holding LLC staff as soon as it is safe to do so
• Report injuries or accidents occurring on the property to staff
• Do not provide medical treatment beyond their level of training
• Keep hallways, entrances, and other access areas clear for emergency personnel
• Provide accurate information to emergency responders when requested

Residents are responsible for managing their routine medical care, medications, appointments, and treatment requirements unless other arrangements have been established.

Gholston Holding LLC staff should be informed of any emergency occurring on the property as soon as reasonably possible.

Severe Weather & Shelter Procedures

In the event of severe weather, including tornadoes, severe thunderstorms, heavy snow, extreme cold, extreme heat, or other dangerous weather conditions, residents should follow instructions from Gholston Holding LLC staff and local emergency authorities.

Residents should:

• Pay attention to weather alerts and emergency notifications
• Follow staff instructions regarding shelter or evacuation
• Move to the designated safe or shelter area when instructed
• Stay away from windows during tornadoes or severe storms
• Remain indoors during dangerous weather when advised
• Dress appropriately for extreme cold or winter conditions
• Report unsafe property conditions caused by severe weather
• Do not leave the property during an emergency when authorities have advised residents to shelter in place

Designated severe-weather shelter areas and property-specific procedures will be explained to residents during intake or move-in.

Power Outage & Utility Emergencies

In the event of a power outage, gas leak, water interruption, heating failure, electrical problem, or other utility emergency, residents should immediately notify Gholston Holding LLC staff.

Residents should:

• Use flashlights rather than candles during a power outage
• Do not attempt to repair electrical, gas, plumbing, or heating equipment
• Report unusual smells, sparks, smoke, flooding, or damaged utility equipment immediately
• Follow staff instructions regarding evacuation or temporary relocation
• Keep hallways, exits, and emergency access areas clear
• Avoid downed power lines and damaged electrical equipment
• In the event of a suspected gas leak, leave the building immediately and call 911 from a safe location
• Follow instructions from emergency personnel or utility providers

Gholston Holding LLC will take reasonable steps to address utility emergencies and protect the safety of residents.

Violence, Threats & Security Emergencies

Gholston Holding LLC is committed to maintaining a safe environment for residents, staff, visitors, and the surrounding community. Violence, threats of violence, intimidation, or other behavior that creates an immediate safety risk should be reported immediately.

Residents should:

• Call 911 if there is an immediate threat, violent incident, weapon, or crime in progress
• Move to a safe location when possible
• Do not physically intervene in dangerous situations
• Follow instructions from police, emergency personnel, or staff
• Notify Gholston Holding LLC staff as soon as it is safe to do so
• Report threats, harassment, fighting, or other serious safety concerns to staff
• Cooperate with emergency responders and authorized investigations

The safety of residents, staff, visitors, and the community is a priority. Immediate threats or emergencies should always be reported to 911.

Missing Resident & Welfare Concerns

If staff become concerned about a resident’s safety or welfare, reasonable steps may be taken to determine whether the resident is safe.

Residents are encouraged to:

• Inform staff when they expect to be away from the property for an extended period
• Follow all parole, probation, treatment, curfew, or supervision requirements regarding their whereabouts
• Keep appropriate emergency contact information current
• Notify staff when circumstances may affect their scheduled return to the property
• Report serious concerns about another resident’s immediate health or safety to staff

When appropriate, Gholston Holding LLC may contact an emergency contact, supervising agency, treatment provider, emergency services, or law enforcement regarding a serious safety or welfare concern.

For an immediate or life-threatening emergency, call 911.

Resident Safety Responsibilities

All residents share responsibility for helping maintain a safe living environment. Residents are expected to follow safety rules, report hazards, and cooperate with staff and emergency personnel.

Residents are expected to:

• Keep hallways, doorways, stairs, and emergency exits clear
• Report damaged smoke detectors, alarms, locks, or other safety equipment
• Never tamper with fire alarms, smoke detectors, fire extinguishers, or security equipment
• Follow posted emergency and evacuation instructions
• Report unsafe conditions or serious safety concerns to staff
• Cooperate with emergency drills when conducted
• Follow instructions from emergency personnel and Gholston Holding LLC staff

Safety is a shared responsibility. Residents should immediately report emergencies, dangerous conditions, or serious safety concerns.
